EcoYoga

ECOyoga is a class designed and facilitated by Jasper Elliott Wolfe. Jasper is an Ecotherapy guide, Yoga teacher, Massage Therapist, Energy Worker, and Musician. This series will blend her love of Nature Reconnection practices, the healing arts, music, and with her passion for yoga and it's ability to connect human beings with the present moment.

Each class will build on itself and incorporate themes from the 7 major chakras, the Elements, and Johanna Macy's "The Work". Classes will include yoga postures to support each chakra and theme, breath work, guided meditation, intuitive movement, earth centered experiential exercises, and journaling to help participants reconnect to their body, mind, and Spirt, as well as the natural world. Sound healing in the form of singing bowls, unique instruments, and songs of healing will often be incorporated. Participants will also be invited to participate in an Outdoor Ecotherapy Workshop during the series. These classes will be held on a Saturday in a local park.

Class Packages with Jasper will be honored and can be purchased and used for all of the classes offered during the Fall Semester of ECOyoga. (even the Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday classes)

What is Ecotherapy?

Ecotherapy can take many forms but it is based on the scientific evidence that human beings are affected positively through their connection to the natural world. However, it is more than just a walk in the park. Not only do we need the exposure to sunlight, fresh air, water, and earth but on a spiritual level we must remember that we ARE Nature. Human beings are in a symbiotic and reciprocal relationship with Mother Earth. The health of the Earth is reflected in us and vice versa. Interdependence is the name of the game.

Many humans suffer from Nature Deficit Disorder and this can lead to depression, anxiety, and a feeling of unease. By reconnecting to our Source and purpose through intentional contact with Nature, we give ourselves the very best environment to heal from the stressors of modern day society.

However, this is not just a one sided relationship. Earth is not here solely for humans to consume and use. We are in a reciprocal relationship with her. By reconnecting on a spiritual level with Gaia, human beings understand their place in the system and what is required of them to give back to Earth.

How do Yoga and Ecotherapy blend together?

Yoga, in its simplest explanation, is a presence practice. The practice of fully inhabiting the physical body while becoming aware of the thought forms is the first step in opening to the realization that we are much more than a body and a mind. Our Spirit is the part of us that is eternal and connected to the Highest version of ourselves, God, or the deep well of Love and Peace that resides within every human heart. In the Yoga practice we meditate on the ONENESS of all creation and in the practice of Ecotherapy we open our minds to the INTERDEPENDENCE of all life and our connection as humans to the more than human world. Together these practices can create a radical shift in the way we view our world and place in it.

Sound Healing and Restorative Yoga w/Jasper

Join Jasper Elliott Wolfe on select Friday's at noon for an hour long Restorative yoga class with sound healing. Various instruments like singing bowls, chimes, drums, and guitar, as well as songs of love and peace will be played or sung to enhance your meditative and rejuvenating experience. This specialty class will also reflect the theme of the week in the ECOyoga series.

October 25th- Sacral Chakra and Water
November 22- Third Eye Chakra and Ether
December 20th- Going Forth and Planting Seeds

Restorative Yoga uses props like bolsters, blankets, sand bags, blocks, and eye pillows to help the participant relax into a posture for 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the posture. This has a profound affect on the nervous system and really allows the parasympathetic nervous system to kick in. In this state, the body and mind have the best opportunity to heal and release stress. This class is good for all levels of experience.

Class Packages with Jasper will be honored and can be purchased and used for all of the classes offered during the Fall Semester of ECOyoga. (even the Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday classes)
